Malika Lamri

Born 2 May 1933, Algiers Casbah, Algeria.

Initially fighting in the Kabyle Mountains, it is her husband who is already fighting in the maquis who recruits her into the FLN with a friend, also called Malika.

She transports and plants bombs in Algiers during the Battle of Algiers after the arrest of the other leading female bombers who placed bombs across the French parts of the city on 30 September 1956.

In 1957 she is denounced and then arrested by the French Paratroopers. She is tortured and then imprisoned for four and a half years. She will not see her four children (sent away and split up in France) again until a few years after the war.

She dies in the spring of 2013.
